It is my opinion that there is not nearly enough Barbra Streisand available to sing on Smule, so I thought I'd post this one, the titular ballad from Barbra's 1973 film of the same name. In the movie Barbra stars as Katie Morosky, opposite Robert Redford who plays Hubbell Gardiner. In the movie, they play out a long difficult romance that (not to give any spoilers here) ends...emotionally. Feel free to check out the movie, and grab some tissues if you've never seen it before! This song is iconic Streisand. So, warm up your pipes and get ready to sing this gorgeous heart-wrenching Academy award-winning ballad. Hilights: the amazing 1970s synth instrumentals and BARBRA! (of course!) Here are the lyrics: Memories light the corners of my mind Misty water-colored memories of the way we were
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we, could we
Memories may be beautiful and yet What's too painful to remember we simply choose to forget So it's the laughter we will remember Whenever we remember the way we were.
The way we were.
This is Barbra performing the song in 1975, check the Cher-style long locks!:
